Rain Pryor (born July 16, 1969) is an American actress and comedian. She is known for her role in the TV show Head of the Class. She is also the daughter of the famous comedian Richard Pryor.

Early Life and Family
Pryor was born in Los Angeles, California. Her father was the well-known comedian Richard Pryor, and her mother was Shelley R. Bonus. Her mother was Jewish, and Rain was raised by her Jewish grandparents. They taught her about Jewish culture and traditions.
Growing up with a Black father and a Jewish mother gave Rain a unique background. She later created a one-woman show called Fried Chicken and Latkes to explore her experiences. The show talks about what it was like to grow up with two different cultures in the 1960s and 1970s.
Pryor attended Beverly Hills High School and graduated in 1987.
Career in Acting and Music
Rain Pryor has had a successful career on television, on stage, and as a musician.
Television and Stage
One of Pryor's most famous roles was on the ABC television series Head of the Class. She played Theola June 'T.J.' Jones. The character was specially created for her based on the different characters she performed during her audition.
She has also guest-starred in other TV shows like The Division and Chicago Hope. Pryor has appeared on many talk shows, including The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Pryor is also a talented stage actress. She played the famous singer Billie Holiday in a United Kingdom tour. She also played another legendary singer, Ella Fitzgerald, in a show in the U.K. She has performed in many other plays, including one where she played Joan of Arc.
One-Woman Show and Music
In 2004, Pryor created her own show called Fried Chicken and Latkes. This show was based on her own life and was very successful. A "one-woman show" is a type of play where a single actor performs all the parts. She toured with the show and even performed it at the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
Besides acting, Pryor is also a jazz and blues singer. She has been performing since 1993 and has sung for audiences in many places, including Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and London.
Writing and Later Career
In 2006, Pryor wrote a book about her life called Jokes My Father Never Taught Me. The book shares stories about her life and her relationship with her famous father.
In 2012, she became the artistic director of the Strand Theater in Baltimore. In 2015, she accepted an award on behalf of her father from the British Urban Film Festival for his important contributions to movies and TV. A documentary about her life, called That Daughter's Crazy, was also shown at the festival.
Personal Life
Rain Pryor was married to Kevin Kindlin from 2002 to 2006. She later married Yale Partlow in 2007, and they had a daughter together in 2008. They divorced in 2014. Pryor is now married to Dave Vane and lives in Baltimore with her husband and daughter.
