Rajesh Vivek Upadhyay (born January 31, 1949 – died January 14, 2016) was a talented Indian actor. He was well-known for his roles in many Hindi films and TV shows. You might remember him as the astrologer Guran in the movie Lagaan (2001) or as the postmaster Nivaran in Swades (2004). He also played the important role of Vyasa, who wrote the Hindu epic Mahabharata, in the popular TV series Mahabharat.

Rajesh Vivek started his acting career often playing villain roles in films like Veerana (1988) and Joshilaay (1989). Later, he became famous for playing funny and supportive characters. Some of his other well-known movies include Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, What's Your Raashee?, and Bunty Aur Babli. He also appeared in the historical TV series Bharat Ek Khoj and in the TV show Aghori. Many people also remember him from the Cadbury 5 Star advertisements, where he played the father.

Rajesh Vivek was born on January 31, 1949, in Jaunpur, a city in Uttar Pradesh, India. He studied Ancient History and Archaeology and earned a Master of Arts degree from T. D. Degree College in Jaunpur.

After his studies, he trained to become an actor at the National School of Drama. This is a very famous school in India where many great actors learn their craft. The well-known filmmaker Shyam Benegal gave Rajesh Vivek his first movie role in the film Junoon (1978).

Rajesh Vivek passed away on January 14, 2016. He was 66 years old. He had a sudden heart attack while he was working on a film in Hyderabad, India.
