Ralf Sigvard Edström (born 7 October 1952) is a former professional football player from Sweden. He played as a forward, which means he was a goal scorer. Many people think he was Sweden's best player in the 1970s.
Ralf started his football journey with Degerfors IF in the late 1960s. He then played for several famous clubs like Åtvidabergs FF, PSV Eindhoven, IFK Göteborg, Standard Liege, and AS Monaco. He stopped playing professionally in 1985 at Örgryte IS. He also played for the Swedish national team from 1972 to 1980, scoring 15 goals in 40 games. He even played for Sweden in the FIFA World Cup in 1974 and 1978. Ralf was named Sweden's best player, winning the Guldbollen award, in both 1972 and 1974.

Playing for Clubs
Ralf Edström began his career at Degerfors IF, a club known for helping young players become great. He later moved to Åtvidabergs FF and helped them win the Swedish national championship in 1972.
Success in the Netherlands
In 1973, Ralf joined PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. He was a key part of the team that won the Dutch national championship twice, in the 1974–75 and 1975–76 seasons. He also helped PSV win the Dutch Cup.
Winning More Trophies
Ralf continued to win championships and cups in different countries. He won the Swedish Cup with IFK Göteborg. Then, he moved to Standard Liège in Belgium and won the Belgian Cup. After that, he played for AS Monaco in France, where he won the French championship.
Retirement from Football
Sadly, Ralf injured his knee while playing for AS Monaco. This injury was serious and stopped him from playing any games for his last club, Örgryte IS. Because of this, he had to retire from professional football in 1985.
Playing for Sweden
Ralf Edström played 40 games for the Swedish national team and scored 15 goals. He is especially remembered for how well he played in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. He helped Sweden finish in fifth place in that tournament. During the 1974 World Cup, he played in six games and scored four goals.
He also played for Sweden in the 1978 FIFA World Cup in Argentina. During his time there, he had a brief misunderstanding with local authorities, but it was quickly resolved, and he was able to continue playing in the tournament.
