Degerfors IF is a professional football club from Degerfors, Sweden. The club was started on January 13, 1907. They are currently playing in the top football league in Sweden, called Allsvenskan.

Club History and Home Ground

Degerfors IF first played in the Allsvenskan league in 1939. This was also when they started using their home stadium, Stora Valla. For many years, up until 1966, the club was often seen playing in the Allsvenskan. More recently, they played in the top league for five seasons in a row, from 1993 to 1997.

The biggest crowd ever at a Degerfors IF game was 21,065 people. This happened in 1963 when they played against IFK Norrköping. The club is connected to the Värmlands Fotbollförbund, which is a local football association.

Journey Through the Leagues

Degerfors IF has had an exciting journey through the different Swedish football leagues. After playing in the top league, Allsvenskan, for several years, they were relegated in 1997. They then spent time in lower divisions, working hard to climb back up.

In 2004, they won their division and were promoted to Superettan, which is the second-highest league. After a few years, they were relegated again in 2008 but quickly bounced back, winning their division in 2009 and returning to Superettan.

The club stayed in Superettan for many seasons, consistently working towards promotion. Their efforts paid off in 2020 when they finished second in Superettan and were promoted back to the Allsvenskan. They played in the Allsvenskan for three seasons (2021-2023) before being relegated again in 2023. However, they showed great determination and won the Superettan league in 2024, earning promotion back to the Allsvenskan for the 2025 season!
