The Ralli Museum is actually two art museums in one place, located in Caesarea, Israel. Both museums are part of a bigger group of Ralli Museums around the world. These museums are special because they are private and don't charge money to visit.

About the Ralli Museums

The Ralli Museums were started by a person named Harry Recanati. He wanted to create places where people could see amazing art. There are five Ralli Museums in total, and two of them are in Caesarea.

These museums have a few important goals:

  • To show off modern Latin American art. This means art from countries like Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina.
  • To remember the history of Jewish people who were forced to leave Spain and Portugal a long time ago during a difficult time called the Inquisition.
  • To keep alive the history and art of the Jewish community from a city called Thessaloniki, which faced terrible destruction during the Holocaust.

Ralli 1 Museum

The Ralli 1 Museum is a very large building, about the size of a few football fields! It has five big rooms for showing art. The building looks like old Spanish houses, with a beautiful garden around it. This garden is filled with sculptures.

Inside Ralli 1, you can see sculptures by famous artists like Salvador Dalí and Auguste Rodin. There are also many sculptures and paintings from Latin America. You might also find art by Arman, André Masson, and Gogy Farias.

This museum also has a special collection of old objects found in and around Caesarea. These objects are from different historical periods, like the ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine times. This collection even traveled to the USA and Canada in the late 1980s.

Ralli 2 Museum

The Ralli 2 Museum is all about the history of Jewish people from Spain. The building itself is designed in a beautiful old style called Moorish, which has influences from North Africa and Spain.

In the middle of Ralli 2, there's a lovely courtyard with a fountain. Twelve lion statues surround the fountain, just like at the famous Alhambra Palace in Spain. You can also see marble statues of important thinkers and poets like Yehuda Halevi, Maimonides, Spinoza, and Ibn Gabirol.

The museum's main collection features paintings by European artists from the 16th to 18th centuries. These paintings often show scenes and stories from the Biblical times.
