Ramón González Peña (born 1888 – died 27 July 1952) was an important leader from Asturias, a region in Spain. He was a socialist, which means he believed in fairness and equality for everyone. He was also a strong leader for workers in a trade union, which is a group that helps workers get better pay and working conditions.

A Leader for Workers
Ramón González Peña became well-known for his role in a big event called the 1934 miners' revolt in Asturias. This was when many miners went on strike to protest their working lives.
The 1934 Miners' Revolt
During the 1934 revolt, Ramón González Peña was a main leader. He guided the Revolutionary Committee in a city called Oviedo. After the revolt ended, he was sentenced to death. However, one year later, his sentence was changed, and he was not executed.
Leading a Major Union
González Peña later became the president of a very large workers' union called Unión General de Trabajadores. In this role, he sometimes disagreed with another important leader named Largo Caballero.
A Career in Politics
Besides his work with unions, Ramón González Peña was also a politician.
Member of Parliament
He served as a Member of Parliament, which means he was elected to help make laws for Spain.
Minister of Justice
