Ramon Menezes Hubner, born on June 30, 1972, is a Brazilian football manager and a former player. He was known for his skills as an attacking midfielder. Today, he is the manager of the Brazilian under-20 national team.

Ramon spent most of his playing career in Brazil. He played over 350 matches and scored 98 goals. He is especially remembered for his time with Cruzeiro, Vasco da Gama, and Vitória. He also played for teams outside Brazil, like Bayer Leverkusen in Germany and Tokyo Verdy in Japan. He retired from playing in 2013.

He also played for the Brazilian national team six times, scoring one goal.

Playing Career Highlights

Ramon started his football journey in his hometown of Contagem, Brazil. He joined the youth team of Cruzeiro in 1983. He made his first professional appearance for Cruzeiro in 1987.

Early Club Years

Ramon scored his first goal for Cruzeiro in 1988. He played regularly in 1990. Later, he had two short loan periods with Bahia in 1992 and 1993.

In 1994, Ramon moved to Vitória. He quickly became a key player. In 1995, he scored an amazing 25 goals in the Campeonato Baiano league.

Playing Abroad and Major Wins

After his great performance at Vitória, Ramon moved to Germany. He joined Bundesliga team Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1995.

He returned to Brazil in 1996 and signed with Vasco da Gama. This was a very successful time for him. He helped Vasco win many important titles. These included the 1997 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A (the Brazilian national league), the 1998 Campeonato Carioca (Rio de Janeiro state league), and the 1998 Copa Libertadores (South America's biggest club competition). He also won the 1999 Torneio Rio – São Paulo.

In 2000, Ramon joined Atlético Mineiro. He scored the winning goal for them in the Campeonato Mineiro (Minas Gerais state league) that year. He was also known for scoring many goals from free kicks during his time at Fluminense in 2001.

Ramon returned to Vasco in 2002. He scored 15 goals in 17 league games, helping the team avoid relegation. In 2003, he played for Tokyo Verdy in Japan. He later played for Fluminense again, and then for Botafogo.

He had a third spell at Vasco in 2006. After that, he played for Al-Gharafa in Qatar. He also played for Atlético Paranaense and returned to Vitória for a second time. He left Vitória in 2010.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2011, Ramon, at 38 years old, joined Joinville. He helped them get promoted from the Série C (third division). He played his final professional matches for Cabofriense in 2013 before retiring.

International Career

Ramon played for the Brazilian national team in 2001. His first game was on May 31, 2001, against Cameroon. He helped set up a goal in that match. He scored his only goal for Brazil on June 7, 2001, against France in the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Managerial Career

After retiring as a player, Ramon started his coaching career. He first worked as an assistant manager at his former club, Joinville.

First Managerial Roles

In 2015, he became the manager of ASEEV. He led them to win the third division of the Campeonato Goiano league.

He then managed Anápolis and Guarani-MG in 2016. He returned to Joinville as manager later that year. In 2017, he had another short period as manager for Anápolis. He also managed Tombense in 2018.

Coaching National Teams

In 2018, Ramon returned to Vasco da Gama as an assistant manager. In 2020, he took over as the main manager of Vasco. He later managed CRB and Vitória.

On March 7, 2022, Ramon was named the manager of the Brazil under-20 national team. He led them to win the 2023 South American U-20 Championship. Because of this success, he was named the interim manager for the senior Brazilian national team in February 2023. He also manages the Brazil U23 team and the Brazil U17 team.
