Ramona Nicole Mănescu (born on December 6, 1972, in Constanţa, Romania) is a Romanian politician and a lawyer. She served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Romania from July 24, 2019, to November 4, 2019. Before this, she was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). She represented Romania in the European Parliament from 2007 to 2013 and again from 2014 to 2019. During her time as an MEP, she worked with different political groups, including the European People's Party (European Parliament group). She was also involved in committees dealing with foreign affairs and transport.

Education and Learning
Ramona Mănescu studied Law at the University of Bucharest. After getting her law degree, she continued her education with several special courses. These included studies at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute and the National Defence University. She also earned a master's degree in "International Relations and European Integration" from the National School of Administration and Political Science in Bucharest.
Since 2010, Ms. Mănescu has been the president of the board for the Romanian-Finnish School in Bucharest. She has written many articles for newspapers and magazines both in Romania and across Europe. She also helped create two photo albums about Bucharest, showing its palaces and monuments.
Her Journey in Politics
Ramona Mănescu was a member of the National Liberal Party (PNL) from 1990 until July 2017. Early in her career, she led the youth organization for her party in a part of Bucharest. She also worked in the party's foreign relations department.
From 2002 to 2004, she worked as an expert in the Romanian Parliament. She advised a vice-president on matters of defense and national security.
In 2003, she became a vice-president of the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY). She held this role until 2005. She also worked on projects to help young people. For example, she was a vice-president of the National Authority for Youth. She also helped coordinate a project called "Empowerment of Women in Politics" in Poland.
Working in the European Parliament
Ramona Mănescu became a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in 2007. From 2007 to 2014, she was part of the ALDE group. She even served as a vice-president of the ALDE Party. In this role, she focused on regional development and social affairs.
In 2014, she was re-elected to the European Parliament. This time, she joined the European People's Party (European Parliament group). In July 2017, she left the National Liberal Party.
What She Did in the European Parliament
As an MEP, Ramona Mănescu worked to promote Romania's interests in the European Parliament. She aimed to improve Romania's image in Europe. MEPs can ask questions to the European Commission. They can also request information on how laws are being followed in EU countries.
Regional Development
She was a key member of the Committee on Regional Development. This committee deals with how regions in the European Union grow and develop. It looks at funds like the European Regional Development Fund. It also focuses on cooperation between different regions and countries.
