College Football Journey
Randall Goforth started his college football career at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2012. He was a freshman, which means it was his first year. He played in all 14 games that season. He even started in five of them. By the end of his first year, he had made 39 tackles.
Becoming a Key Player
In 2013, Goforth became a starter for the Bruins in his sophomore year. This means he was in his second year of college. He played in all 13 games and became a leader for the team's defense. He made many tackles that year.
By his junior season, Goforth was seen as a potential player for the NFL draft. This is where professional teams choose college players. He was one of the best players on the Bruins' defense.
Injury and Comeback
On August 20, 2014, Goforth showed his skills in the first game of the season against Virginia. He made 5 tackles and ran 75 yards for a touchdown after picking up a fumble. A fumble is when a player drops the ball. Sadly, in the very next game, he got an injury that ended his season.
Because of his injury, Goforth was given a "redshirt" year by the NCAA. This meant he could play another year of college football later. In his redshirt junior season (2015), he was named to the second-team All-Pac-12 defense. This is a big honor for college players.
College Career Highlights
During his time at UCLA, Randall Goforth made a total of 250 tackles. He also caught 10 interceptions. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player.
