Randall Andre Milligan (born November 27, 1961) is a former professional baseball player. He played as a first baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1987 to 1994. Randy Milligan is also known by his nickname, "Moose". After his playing career, he became a scout for the Baltimore Orioles. A scout is someone who looks for new talented players.
Randy Milligan's Baseball Journey
Randy Milligan played for several teams during his time in Major League Baseball. He started with the New York Mets in 1987. Later, he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, and Montreal Expos.
Rising Through the Ranks
Before playing in the big leagues, Randy Milligan showed amazing talent in the minor leagues. In 1987, he played in the International League. This is a high level of minor league baseball.
That year, he was a star player.
- He won the batting title with a .326 batting average. This means he got a hit in more than 32% of his turns at bat.
- He scored 99 runs, which was the most in the league.
- He also had 103 RBIs (Runs Batted In). This means he helped 103 teammates score runs.
- He hit 29 home runs, which was the third-highest in the league.
Randy Milligan was very close to winning the Triple Crown. This is a rare award for leading the league in batting average, home runs, and RBIs. He missed it by just two home runs! Because of his great performance, he was named the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP). He was also chosen as the Rookie of the Year and the All-Star first baseman.

Randy Milligan's baseball career even made it into a movie! On June 17, 1991, he hit a game-winning double. This hit allowed his teammate, Cal Ripken Jr., to score a run. This exciting moment was shown in the movie A Few Good Men. This film was even nominated for an Oscar award.
