He was a tall player, standing 6 feet 8 inches (2.03 meters) and weighing 240 pounds (109 kg). Randy played as a power forward, a position known for strong rebounding and scoring close to the basket. Before turning pro, he played college basketball for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
College Basketball Star
Randy White became a big star at Louisiana Tech University. In his final year, he showed amazing skill, scoring an average of 21.2 points and grabbing 10.5 rebounds per game. Because of his talent, he earned the nicknames "Mailman II" and "Mailkid." These names were a nod to another famous basketball player, Karl Malone, who was also a Louisiana Tech alumnus and known as "The Mailman." People often compared Randy to Karl Malone because they both played great basketball for the same university.
Professional Basketball Journey
Randy White was chosen by the Dallas Mavericks as the eighth pick in the 1989 NBA draft. This meant he was one of the top players picked to join the NBA. He played five seasons with the Mavericks. His best season was 1992–93, when he averaged 9.7 points per game.
After his time in the NBA, Randy played in other leagues. He played in the CBA in the United States. He also played for many teams in international leagues around the world. Some of these teams included the strong European team Maccabi Tel Aviv and Pfizer Reggio Calabria in Italy during the 1994–1995 season.
