The Ranoidea callista is a type of tree frog that lives in Papua New Guinea. Scientists first found this frog on a mountain called Mount Trafalgar. It was found about 220 meters (or about 720 feet) above sea level.

About the Ranoidea callista Frog

A scientist named Fred Kraus was the first to officially describe the Ranoidea callista frog. He wrote a paper about it in 2013. He noticed that this frog is related to another frog called Litoria gracilenta. However, the Ranoidea callista frog has some special differences that make it unique.

What Makes It Special?

The Ranoidea callista frog has different colors on its skin compared to its relatives. It also lays its eggs in streams, which is a specific way of reproducing. Another interesting difference is its call. Like many frogs, the Ranoidea callista makes a unique sound, and its call is different from other similar frogs.

Where It Lives

Even though it was first found on Mount Trafalgar, scientists believe the Ranoidea callista frog might live in many other places across New Guinea. This means it could be found in more areas than just that one mountain.
