History of Ransäter Church
Building the First Church
In the 1600s, people built the first church in Ransäter. It was a long, wooden building. This church was built because Johan Börjesson Carlberg wanted it to happen.
Rebuilding and a Fire
Around the 1740s, the church was changed. It was rebuilt into a cross church, which means it had a shape like a cross when seen from above. Sadly, on December 6, 1983, this church burned down completely.
The New Church Today
A new wooden church was built to replace the old one. It opened on Candlemas Day in 1986. Candlemas Day is a Christian holiday celebrated in early February. The person who designed this new church was an architect named Jerk Alton.
Inside the church, you can see beautiful pictures. These pictures were created by an artist named Sven-Bertil Svensson. The church also has a pipe organ. This musical instrument was built in 1988 by a company called Grönlunds Orgelbyggeri.
