Betzer: A Historic Spot
- Betzer is a community in the eastern part of the township. It's right on the edge of Wright Township.
- This community was named after Daniel Colbetzer. He was the first postmaster when a post office opened here in 1886.
- The post office helped people send and receive mail until 1901.
Ransom: The Township's Namesake
- Ransom is another community located within the township.
- It was first settled way back in 1840. At that time, the area was called Rowland Township.
- A post office named North Rowland opened here in 1848.
- Soon after, the area was reorganized and named Ransom Township. It was named after Epaphroditus Ransom, who was the governor of Michigan at the time.
- The post office was briefly renamed Bird but then changed back to Ransom in 1850. It closed in 1936.
