Rapperswil is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It is part of the Seeland area, which is an administrative district. This town is found in the canton of Berne.
A canton is like a state or a large region within Switzerland. Rapperswil is a place where people live and work, and it has its own local government.
About Rapperswil's Growth
Rapperswil has grown bigger over time by joining with other nearby towns. This is a common way for municipalities to expand in Switzerland.
New Areas Join Rapperswil
On January 1, 2013, the town of Ruppoldsried became a part of Rapperswil. This meant that the people and land of Ruppoldsried were now included in the Rapperswil municipality.
Later, on January 1, 2016, another town called Bangerten also merged with Rapperswil. These mergers helped Rapperswil become a larger and more connected community.
