NBA Career Highlights

Starting with the Seattle SuperSonics (1998–2007)

Even though big colleges like Florida State and Kansas wanted him, Lewis decided to go straight to the NBA. He was picked by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1998 NBA draft. He was the 32nd player chosen overall.

In 2001, Lewis was picked to play for the United States Basketball Team. They won a gold medal at the Goodwill Games. On October 31, 2003, Lewis scored an amazing 50 points in one game. This was his highest score ever in a single game. He helped the SuperSonics win against the Los Angeles Clippers in Japan.

Lewis was chosen as an All-Star player in the 2004–05 season. He also set a record for the SuperSonics. He made the most three-pointers in the team's history. He passed other great players like Dale Ellis and Gary Payton to get this record.

Joining the Orlando Magic (2007–2010)

After nine seasons with the SuperSonics, Lewis moved to the Orlando Magic in July 2007. He signed a big contract to join the team. In Orlando, he changed his playing position from small forward to power forward. He continued to be a great three-point shooter.

In the playoffs, Lewis helped the Magic reach the second round. He scored 33 points in one game against the Detroit Pistons. He was the Magic's top scorer in those playoffs. He also set new personal records for points, rebounds, and assists.

Lewis was chosen for the 2009 NBA All-Star Game in the 2008–09 season. In the 2009 playoffs, he made a game-winning shot against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He said it was the most important shot of his career. The Magic won that series and went to the NBA Finals. However, they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In August 2009, Lewis had a short suspension. This was because of a misunderstanding with an over-the-counter supplement he was taking. It contained a substance that was not allowed by the league, even though it was an honest mistake.

Time with the Washington Wizards (2010–2012)

In December 2010, Lewis was traded to the Washington Wizards. He played 60 games for the Wizards over two seasons. During this time, he averaged about 9.7 points per game.

Winning with the Miami Heat (2012–2014)

In July 2012, Lewis signed a two-year deal with the Miami Heat. This move brought him back together with his former Seattle teammate, Ray Allen. The Heat had a fantastic season in 2012–13. They had the best record in the league.

Lewis achieved his first NBA championship with the Heat in the 2013 NBA Finals. They won against the San Antonio Spurs.

In the 2014 playoffs, Lewis received praise from his coach for his strong defense. He helped the team a lot, even if his stats like points or rebounds weren't always high. In Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, he scored 18 points. He made 6 out of 9 three-point shots. The Heat made it to the NBA Finals again but lost to the San Antonio Spurs.

Brief Stint with the Dallas Mavericks (2014)

In July 2014, Lewis signed with the Dallas Mavericks. However, his contract was canceled just a few days later. This happened because he failed his physical exam. Doctors found that his right knee needed surgery.

BIG3 Career

Leading the 3 Headed Monsters (2017–2023)

In 2017, Rashard Lewis joined the 3 Headed Monsters team in the BIG3 basketball league. This league features former NBA players. His team included NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton as the coach. Other teammates were Jason Williams and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.

The 3 Headed Monsters had a great season, winning 7 out of 8 games. They reached the Championship game but lost to the undefeated team, Trilogy. For his outstanding play, Lewis was named the MVP of the season.
