NBA Career Highlights

Playing for the Seattle SuperSonics (1998–2007)

Even though big colleges wanted him, Lewis decided to go straight to the 1998 NBA draft. The Seattle SuperSonics picked him as the 32nd player overall. He was the last player chosen from a special waiting area for top draft prospects.

Lewis and his teammate Ray Allen helped the SuperSonics become a strong team in the early 2000s. In 2001, Lewis played for the United States Basketball Team. They won the gold medal at the Goodwill Games.

On October 31, 2003, Lewis scored a career-high 50 points. This helped the Seattle SuperSonics win against the Los Angeles Clippers in Japan. Lewis was chosen as an All-Star in the 2004–05 season. He holds the SuperSonics' record for making the most three-pointers.

Time with the Orlando Magic (2007–2010)

After nine seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics, Lewis joined the Orlando Magic in July 2007. He signed a six-year deal with the team. In his first season with the Magic, Lewis played as a power forward. This was a change from his usual small forward position.

He made many more three-pointers that year than ever before. In the playoffs, the Magic reached the second round. Lewis scored 33 points in one game against the Detroit Pistons. He was the Magic's best scorer in the playoffs. He also set new personal records for points, rebounds, and assists.

Lewis started the 2008–09 season as the team's second-best scorer. He was chosen to play in the 2009 NBA All-Star Game. In the 2009 NBA playoffs, Lewis made a game-winning shot. This happened in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He called it the biggest shot of his career. The Magic won that series and went to the NBA Finals. However, they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.

In August 2009, Lewis was suspended for ten games. This was because a test showed he had taken a banned substance. He had taken an over-the-counter supplement to help with tiredness.

Playing for the Washington Wizards (2010–2012)

On December 18, 2010, Lewis was traded to the Washington Wizards. He played 60 games for the Wizards over two seasons. During this time, he averaged about 9.7 points per game.

Winning with the Miami Heat (2012–2014)

Lewis played an important role in the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals. His coach praised his defense in a game against the Indiana Pacers. In Game 6, he scored 13 points, helping the Heat reach the NBA Finals. The Heat later lost the Finals to the San Antonio Spurs.
