Ravensworth is a special kind of community in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It's called a census-designated place, which means it's an area identified by the government for counting people, but it's not an official city or town with its own local government.
The name Ravensworth comes from a very old farm, or plantation, that existed here since the 1700s. The main house of the Ravensworth plantation burned down in 1926. Later, in the early 1960s, the area was developed into the Ravensworth Farm neighborhood. In 2020, about 2,680 people lived in Ravensworth. It's also part of the larger Washington metropolitan area, which includes the nation's capital, Washington, D.C..

Where is Ravensworth Located?
Ravensworth is in the eastern part of Fairfax County. It has several natural and man-made borders. To the northeast, you'll find the Capital Beltway, which is a big highway that circles Washington, D.C. Braddock Road is to the north.
To the west, the community is bordered by Accotink Creek, a stream that flows into Lake Accotink to the south. Another small stream called Flag Run forms the border to the southeast. Ravensworth is surrounded by other communities like Wakefield to the north, North Springfield to the east, and Kings Park to the south and west. Downtown Washington, D.C. is about 14 miles (23 kilometers) northeast of Ravensworth.
