North Springfield is a community in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It's known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that looks like a town but isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. In 2020, about 7,430 people lived here.

North Springfield's Location and Surroundings
North Springfield is in the southern part of Fairfax County. It has clear boundaries that help define it. To the south, you'll find the Capital Beltway and the Norfolk Southern Railway. The Capital Beltway is a big highway that circles around Washington, D.C..
To the west, it's bordered by Flag Run and more of the Capital Beltway. Braddock Road forms its northern edge. On the eastern side, you'll find Backlick Run and Backlick Road.
Nearby Communities
North Springfield is surrounded by several other communities. To the east and south is Springfield. To the west, you'll find Kings Park and Ravensworth. Wakefield is to the northwest, and Annandale is to the north.
You can easily get onto the Capital Beltway (also known as Interstate 495) from Exit 54, which is at the northwest corner of North Springfield. If you want to visit downtown Washington, D.C., it's about 14 miles (22.5 kilometers) northeast of North Springfield.

North Springfield covers a total area of about 4.0 square kilometers (1.5 square miles). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.03 square kilometers (0.01 square miles), is water.
