Reagan is a small place in Falls County, Texas, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own city government like a town or city does. Reagan is located where State Highway 6 and Farm-to-Market Road 413 meet. It's about nine miles (14 km) southeast of Marlin.
The Story of Reagan, Texas
Reagan was started in 1873. This happened soon after the Waco and Northwestern Railroad finished building its train tracks. The tracks connected Bremond and Ross. A post office also opened in Reagan that same year. The community was named after William Reason Reagan. He was the person who gave the land for the town to be built.
From Trains to Farms
At first, Reagan was a busy stop for trains. But during the 1900s, it changed to focus more on farming. Many businesses moved to nearby Marlin, which is the county seat. Today, most people who live in Reagan travel to other cities for work. They usually have jobs that are not related to farming.
Even though farming and ranching are still done, most of the money people earn comes from other jobs. In the 1890s, Reagan's population grew to 500 people. It reached its highest number of 600 people in 1914. Even with its small size, Reagan is home to the Texas Pneumatic Tools Company.
