History of Red Devil
The village of Red Devil got its name from a mine. The Red Devil Mine was started in 1921. A man named Hans Halverson found a lot of mercury in the nearby mountains. Mercury is also called quicksilver.

By 1933, the mine was producing a lot of mercury. Mercury was used for many things back then. The mine changed owners two times. It kept working until 1971.
