Redington is a small community in Pima County, Arizona, United States. It's known as a populated place, which means it's a named area where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
Redington is located next to the San Pedro River. It is northeast of a larger city called Tucson. It is also about 54 kilometers (34 miles) north-northwest of Benson. This area was once known by another name, Tres Alamos.
A special natural landmark nearby is Redington Pass. This pass is a low point between mountains northeast of Tucson. Redington Road travels through this pass, connecting Tucson to Redington.

History of Redington
How Redington Got Its Name
The Redington area was first settled by two brothers, Henry and Lem Redfield, in 1875. They wanted to open a post office and name it after themselves. However, the United States Postal Service had a rule: you couldn't name a post office after someone who was still alive.
So, the brothers chose a different name: Redington. This name then became used for the community itself, the nearby mountain pass, and the road. The Redington post office officially opened in 1879. Henry Redfield was the first postmaster, which means he was in charge of the post office.
The Carlink Ranch
In the 1880s, a rancher named William H. Bayless started his cattle business in the San Pedro Valley. Over several years, he bought many small farms and ranches.
During the 1890s, there was a big drought, which means a long period with very little rain. Many settlers in the valley had to leave because of the drought. William Bayless bought their land. This allowed him to create a huge ranch called the Carlink Ranch, which grew to be about 200,000 acres! The small community of Redington, with its general store, post office, and school, was located right inside this large ranch.
Famous Person from Redington
Eulalia Bourne was a special person who lived and worked in Redington. She was a pioneer schoolteacher, which means she was one of the first teachers in that area. She also worked as a rancher and became an author.
Eulalia Bourne taught at the Redington school from 1930 to 1933. While teaching there, she started publishing a student newspaper called Little Cowpuncher. She also wrote several books. Her most famous book is called Woman in Levis, which tells stories about her life.
