Redrock was once a small community or "settlement" located in Kern County, California. It is no longer an active town or village today.
What Was Redrock?
Redrock was a place where people used to live. It was known as a "former settlement" because it no longer exists as a populated area. Many small towns or settlements can become former settlements over time. This happens for different reasons, like people moving away or resources running out.
Where Was Redrock Located?
Redrock was found in the Mojave Desert. This is a large, dry area in the southwestern United States. It was about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) north of a place called Cantil. Today, the area is close to the beautiful Red Rock Canyon State Park (California). Redrock was located at an elevation of 2,277 feet (694 meters) above sea level. This means it was quite high up.
Redrock on Maps
Even though Redrock is no longer a settlement, it appeared on maps for a long time. It was still shown on maps as late as 1947. This shows that it was once a recognized place, even if it was small.
