Reginald Gene Cross, born on August 12, 1966, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played college basketball for the Miami Dade Sharks and the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Reggie was chosen by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1989 NBA draft. However, he didn't play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Instead, he played professional basketball in different leagues. He played in the American Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He also played in countries like France, Spain, and Turkey. Reggie is the most recent player from the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors team to be picked in an NBA draft.

Reggie Cross's College Basketball Journey

Reggie Cross was a talented player at South Plantation High School in Plantation, Florida. Many top college teams wanted him to play for them. But first, he played his first two years of college basketball at Miami Dade. During his second year there, he was named to the All-State Team. Basketball Weekly also said he was one of the best junior college players ready to transfer.

In 1986, the University of Hawaii at Manoa offered Reggie a scholarship. They had tried to recruit him when he was in high school. He needed to spend the 1986–87 school year at Leeward Community College. During this time, he didn't play basketball. He worked full-time as a courier to support himself while taking classes. This helped him become eligible to play for Hawaii.

Playing for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors

Reggie started playing for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in the 1987–88 season. He scored an average of 15.7 points per game. In his final year, the 1988–89 season, Reggie helped Hawaii reach the postseason for the first time since 1974. He averaged 18.6 points per game that season.

Because of his great play, Reggie was chosen for the All-WAC First Team. He was also named Hawaii's most outstanding player in both seasons he played for them. After a strong performance at an All-Star Game in Japan, NBA teams started to notice him more. He was invited to several NBA tryout camps.

Reggie Cross's Professional Basketball Career

Reggie Cross was picked by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1989 NBA draft. He was the 44th player chosen overall. However, the 76ers decided not to keep him on their team in October 1989.

On December 2, 1989, Reggie signed with Hapoel Haifa in Israel. He played for them until April 1990. In 1990, Reggie joined the Orlando Magic for their training camp. But he didn't make it onto their final team roster.

Playing in Different Countries

Reggie spent part of the 1990–91 season playing in Spain. He played for Grupo IFA Granollers. He then spent the rest of that season in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) in the United States. He played for two teams: the Grand Rapids Hoops and the Yakima Sun Kings.

After playing in France for Le Mans Sarthe during the 1991–92 season, Reggie came back to the U.S. in 1992. He played for the Palm Beach Stingrays in the United States Basketball League (USBL). He also played for the Columbus Horizon in the CBA.

Later, in June 1993, he played for the Winnipeg Thunder in the Canadian National Basketball League. Before that, he had been part of the Montreal Dragons team. Reggie then spent three years playing basketball in Turkey, from 1993 to 1996.
