Reggie Slack's Football Journey
College Football Star
Before becoming a professional player, Reggie Slack played college football for the Auburn Tigers. He was a standout quarterback there. In 1988, he was even named to the First-team All-SEC. This means he was one of the best players in his college football conference. In 1990, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Hall of Fame Bowl, a big college football game.
Playing Professional Football
After his great college career, Reggie was chosen in the 1990 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. The NFL Draft is where professional football teams pick new players from colleges. He played for the Oilers from 1990 to 1992.
Reggie also played in another league called the World League of American Football (WLAF). He was a player for the New York/New Jersey Knights in that league.
Canadian Football League Career
Later, Reggie moved on to play in the Canadian Football League (CFL). The CFL is a professional football league in Canada, and it has slightly different rules than American football. He played for several teams in the CFL, including the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
In 1997, Reggie led the Saskatchewan Roughriders to the Grey Cup. The Grey Cup is the championship game of the CFL, similar to the Super Bowl in the NFL. It was a big achievement for him and his team. He continued to play in the CFL until 1999, and then had short returns in 2002 and 2003.
Life After Football
After retiring from his long football career, Reggie Slack started a new chapter. In 2014, he opened his own pizza restaurant in Navarre, Florida. It's cool to see how athletes can find success in different areas after their playing days are over!
