Regino Campos Hermosisima Jr. was born on October 18, 1927, in Cebu, Philippines. He is a respected Filipino judge and lawyer. He served as an Associate Justice of the highest court in the Philippines.
Justice Hermosisima Jr. also served as a member of the Judicial and Bar Council for four terms. This council helps choose judges and justices for the country. He was first appointed to the Supreme Court in 1995 and retired in 1997.

Early Life and Education
Regino Hermosisima Jr. was born in Cebu, Philippines. He was a very bright student from a young age. He finished as the top student (Valedictorian) at Sibonga Elementary School. Later, he was the second-best student (Salutatorian) at Cebu Provincial High School.
He continued his studies at the University of Visayas. He earned his law degree with honors (cum laude) in 1952. In 1953, he passed the Bar Examinations, which allows lawyers to practice law.
Career as a Legal Expert
Justice Hermosisima Jr. began his career as a law professor. He taught different law subjects at universities like the University of Visayas and Far Eastern University in Manila. He also helped students prepare for the Bar Examinations.
He also had his own law practice from 1953 to 1966. His law offices were in Cebu, Basilan City, and Zamboanga City. He also worked in government, serving as a City Councilor and Vice-Mayor in Basilan City.
Rising Through the Judiciary
Justice Hermosisima Jr. spent 31 years working in the judiciary. This means he worked as a judge in different courts. He started as a trial judge in the Court of First Instance in Basilan City and Cebu. He also served as a judge in the Circuit Criminal Court in Cebu City.
In 1986, he was appointed as a Justice of the Sandiganbayan. This is a special court in the Philippines that handles cases involving government officials. He served there for nine years. In 1995, he was promoted to Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. He retired from the Supreme Court on his 70th birthday in 1997.
After retiring from the Supreme Court, he continued to serve the country. He was appointed as a regular member of the Judicial and Bar Council four times. He also became the chairman of the Board of Trustees for the University of Cebu. He received a Medal of Honor as a distinguished alumnus from the University of Visayas.

The Aquino-Galman Case
In 1985, a court called the Sandiganbayan initially found all accused people not guilty in the case of Mr. Aquino's death. However, the Supreme Court later said that this trial was not fair. They ordered a new trial for the case.
Justice Hermosisima Jr. was the judge who wrote the decision for the new trial in 1990. In his decision, he found 16 people guilty of murder in the case. He sentenced them to life imprisonment. This decision was very important in Philippine history. The Supreme Court later upheld his decision.
In 2004, the accused tried to reopen the case, but their appeal was denied. Years later, some people asked for the soldiers to be pardoned. However, Corazon Aquino, Mr. Aquino's wife, said she had forgiven them but would not agree to their release.

Judicial and Bar Council Work
In 2004, Justice Hermosisima Jr. became the chairman of a special group. This group worked to make the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) and the Philippine Judicial Academy stronger.
In 2006, he gave an important speech about the JBC's plans. He said that the Council's goal is to choose the "best and the brightest" people to become judges. He believed that the courts must be fair and clear in how they work.
Involvement with YMCA
Justice Hermosisima Jr. was also very active in the YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association). He was the past President of YMCA Councils in Asia and Pacific countries. In 2005, he was re-elected as the national President of the YMCA in the Philippines.

Justice Hermosisima Jr. lives in a condominium in Quezon City. His grandchildren call him "Papa Ino." He is married to Rosemary P. Navarro. They have five children:

- Mr. Mario Hermosisima, a businessman.
- Dr. Carol Hermosisima-Carabaña, an Assistant City Health Officer in Zamboanga City.

- Dr. Beverly Ann Hermosisima, also a doctor at Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City.
