Rekha Thapa (Nepali: रेखा थापा), born on August 21, 1982, is a famous Nepalese actress, filmmaker, and politician. She is well-known for her important work in the Nepali film industry and for supporting women's rights.
Over her career, which has lasted more than 20 years, she has acted in over 200 movies. Many of these films feature strong female characters and talk about important social issues. Rekha Thapa has won several awards, including the CG Digital Film Awards for Best Actress and the NEFTA Film Awards for Best Actress in 2011. She also received two National Film Awards for Best Actress, for her roles in Himmat (2006) and Bato Muni Ko Phool (2010).
Rekha Thapa is also known for speaking up about social and political topics, especially women's rights. She became very successful in Nepali cinema when most movies focused only on male actors. Because of this, she is often called a "female hero" instead of just a "heroine."

Early Life and Career Beginnings
Rekha Thapa was born in Salakpur, a place in the Morang area of Eastern Nepal. After finishing school, she moved to Kathmandu to continue her studies. She always wanted to be an actress, so she took part in many modeling events and glamorous programs. In 1999, she joined the Miss Nepal Pageant and made it into the Top 10 finalists. Rekha Thapa follows the Hinduism religion.
Personal Life
In February 2022, Rekha Thapa married Balram Shahi in a court ceremony. She was married before to film producer Chhabiraj Ojha. They separated in 2012. Recently, she welcomed her baby girl.

Rekha Thapa has been in the news for her public activities. She joined a major political party, UCPN (Maoist), in a public event in Kathmandu. She has also been seen participating in political gatherings. In June 2013, Rekha Thapa was featured on the cover page of Wave Magazine.
Her Journey in Politics
In 2013, Rekha Thapa joined the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). However, about a year later, she announced that she was no longer part of that political group.
On December 12, 2016, Thapa joined the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). In February 2017, she was chosen as a central member of the RPP. Other well-known people, like singer Komal Oli, also became central members at that time.
