Remy Hii is an actor from Malaysia and Australia. He was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Remy went to the National Institute of Dramatic Art for three years. He acted in many plays before he got his first TV role.

Remy became well-known when he starred as Van Tuong Nguyen in the TV show Better Man. Soon after, he joined the popular TV show Neighbours in 2013, playing Hudson Walsh.

He is also famous for playing Prince Jingim in the Netflix series Marco Polo. You might also know him as Simon Van Reyk in the Australian crime show Harrow. He played chef Ben Zhao in the comedy series Aftertaste. Remy was Dalbert Tan in the Australian comedy-drama Wellmania. He also voiced Marcus in the animated series Arcane.

In movies, Remy Hii had important roles in the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians. He also appeared in Marvel's superhero film Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Growing Up in Australia

Remy Hii was born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. His father is Chinese-Malaysian, and his mother is British from Manchester. His father's family moved from China to Malaysia a long time ago. When Remy was eight years old, he moved with his parents to Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

Studying Acting and Music

Remy went to the Queensland University of Technology. Early in his career, he worked with The Emerge Project. This group helped him perform in new plays in Brisbane from 2005 to 2007. From 2009 to 2011, he studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney. He graduated from NIDA in 2011. While at NIDA, Remy was also in an indie-rock band called RAPIDS. The band released their own music in 2010.

Early Roles and Big Break

Remy Hii's first professional play was The Estimator in 2007. The writer of the play saw him perform and cast him. After that, he had guest roles in TV shows like East of Everything and H₂O: Just Add Water. In 2011, he was in a short film called Kiss.

His big break came when he played the main role of Van Tuong Nguyen in the four-part TV series Better Man. This show started in July 2013 and was based on a true story. For this role, Remy was nominated for awards like Best Lead Actor in a TV Drama.

Joining Popular TV Shows

In June 2013, Remy Hii joined the cast of the long-running TV show Neighbours. He played Hudson Walsh, who was a love interest for another character, Chris Pappas. After leaving Neighbours, Remy was cast as Prince Jingim in the Netflix drama Marco Polo. This series ran for two seasons.

Movies and Other TV Work

Remy also appeared in the 2017 thriller film 2:22. He had a recurring role as Sam in the Australian TV drama Sisters. In 2018, Remy played Alistair Cheng in the romantic comedy movie Crazy Rich Asians. This movie was based on a popular book.

From 2018 to 2019, he played Simon Van Reyk, a forensic pathologist, in the crime drama Harrow. In 2019, Remy Hii played Brad Davis in the superhero movie Spider-Man: Far From Home.
