Return to the Hundred Acre Wood is an exciting new adventure book about Winnie the Pooh. It was published on October 5, 2009. This book was written by David Benedictus and illustrated by Mark Burgess. It was the first new Pooh story in a very long time, since 1928! In this book, you'll meet a brand new character: Lottie the Otter.
How the Book Was Created
The author, David Benedictus, had already worked with the original Winnie-the-Pooh stories. In the 1990s, he made audio versions of them. After that, he wrote two new short stories about Pooh and his friends. He shared these stories with the people who manage the original author's work.
At first, they couldn't publish his stories. This was because another company, Walt Disney, owned many of the rights. However, about ten years later, things changed. The rights to create new Pooh stories came back to the original author's estate. They then asked Benedictus to update one of his stories and write more. This collection of new tales became Return to the Hundred Acre Wood.

Meet Lottie the Otter
Lottie is a brand new character introduced in Return to the Hundred Acre Wood. She quickly becomes a part of the Hundred Acre Wood gang.
Lottie is described as a "feisty" character. This means she is lively and has a strong personality. She is also very good at playing cricket. Lottie believes in proper manners and good behavior. David Benedictus, the author, said that Lottie shows the same values as the original Pooh stories. These values include friendship and a love for adventure. This makes her a perfect new friend for Winnie-the-Pooh and his pals.
