Rhysotoechia is a group of tropical rainforest trees. They are part of the plant family called Sapindaceae. This family is also known for plants like maple trees and lychee fruit.
Scientists have found about twenty different types, or species, of Rhysotoechia trees. They grow naturally in warm, wet places. You can find them in New Guinea, parts of eastern Queensland and New South Wales in Australia. They also grow in Borneo, Sulawesi, the Moluccas, and the Philippines. Some species are still not fully known. Scientists believe more types might be discovered in the future.
Types of Rhysotoechia Trees
There are many different species of Rhysotoechia trees. Here are some examples:
- Rhysotoechia applanata – Found in New Guinea.
- Rhysotoechia bifoliolata – Grows in eastern Queensland and New South Wales, Australia.
- This species has two main types:
- subsp. bifoliolata – Found in eastern Queensland and New South Wales.
- subsp. nitida – Only found in the Cape York Peninsula in Australia.
- This species has two main types:
- Rhysotoechia flavescens – An Australian type found only in the rainforests of northeastern Queensland.
- Rhysotoechia florulenta – Another Australian type, found in the mountains of northeastern Queensland.
- Rhysotoechia koordersii – Grows in Borneo, Sulawesi, and other parts of Malesia.
- Rhysotoechia mortoniana – Found in the upland and mountain rainforests of northeastern Queensland, Australia.
- Rhysotoechia ramiflora – Grows in Borneo, Sulawesi, and the Philippines.
- Rhysotoechia robertsonii – Found in rainforests in northeastern Queensland, Australia, and New Guinea.
Scientists use special names for each species. This helps them keep track of all the different plants around the world.
