Riana (pronounced rye-anna) is a small and friendly town in the North West part of Tasmania. It is located south-west of the Dial Range and west of the popular tourist town, Penguin. Riana and its smaller neighbour, South Riana, are both part of the Central Coast Council area.
At the 2021 census, Riana had about 313 people living there. South Riana, which is very close by, had 212 residents.
The land around Riana is very good for farming. The rich red soil helps grow lots of vegetables, especially potatoes. It is also a great place for dairy farms, where cows are raised for milk.

The main school in the area today is Riana Primary School. It has been in its current spot since the 1960s. Before that, after World War Two, there were several smaller schools around Riana. However, these schools eventually closed down. This happened because there were not enough teachers available to keep them running.
