Ricardo William Faty (born August 4, 1986) is a former professional football player. He played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both in defense and attack. Ricardo was born in France but played for the Senegal national team.

Ricardo Faty's Football Journey
Ricardo Faty started his football career in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, France. He began playing for the club Strasbourg in the 2004–05 season. He played 27 matches and scored one goal for their amateur team.
Early Days at Strasbourg
The next year, he played 14 more games for the amateur team. He also played 12 matches for Strasbourg's main professional team. Five of these matches were in cup competitions. His first game in Ligue 1, France's top football league, was on October 29, 2005.
Joining A.S. Roma
During the 2005–06 UEFA Cup, a European football competition, A.S. Roma played against Strasbourg. Roma's coach, Luciano Spalletti, noticed the young Ricardo Faty. The next year, Strasbourg was moved down to a lower league. Ricardo Faty then joined A.S. Roma for about 350,000 Euros. He signed a five-year contract with the Italian club.
Playing in the Champions League
Ricardo Faty made his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League with Roma. This was against Olympiacos in Greece. His job was to closely guard the famous Brazilian player Rivaldo. Roma won the match 1–0. Ricardo did so well that his coach praised him. Many newspapers even called him the "new" Patrick Vieira, another famous French midfielder.
Loan Moves and New Clubs
After his first season in Italy, Ricardo Faty wanted to play more often. So, on July 6, 2007, he moved to the German team Bayer Leverkusen on a two-year loan. In January 2008, he was loaned again, this time to FC Nantes in France. He stayed there until the end of the 2008–09 season.
Later, in 2010, Ricardo Faty joined the Greek club Aris Salonica. In his first season there (2010–2011), he played around 35 matches and scored two goals.
In 2012, he moved to another French club, Ajaccio. On August 18, 2014, Faty signed a four-year contract with Standard Liège in Belgium. In the summer of 2018, Ricardo Faty joined the Turkish club MKE Ankaragücü. He ended his contract with the club on May 9, 2019.
On September 16, 2020, Faty joined Reggina in Italy. He signed a three-year contract with them. He had many injuries during the 2020–21 season and did not play any games in the 2021–22 season. On August 6, 2022, his contract with Reggina ended by agreement.

Ricardo Faty has an older brother named Jacques Faty. Jacques is also a professional football player. Ricardo and Jacques were both born in France. Their father is from Senegal and Vietnam, and their mother is from Cape Verde.
Ricardo's father is Muslim and his mother is Catholic. Ricardo himself became Muslim when he was 20 years old, while he was playing for A.S. Roma. He hopes to finish his football career in a Gulf country. This is because he wants to grow stronger in his faith.
