Ricardo dos Santos (born May 23, 1990 – died January 20, 2015) was a talented surfer from Brazil. He was known for his strong spirit and impressive skills on the waves.
Ricardo was a very good surfer. He reached the quarterfinals (top 8) at a big competition called the Billabong Pro in Tahiti in 2012. At that event, he even beat the famous surfer Kelly Slater.
At the same competition in Tahiti, Ricardo won the Andy Irons award. This special award is given to the most determined and strong-willed competitor. In 2011, he was ranked among the top surfers in the world, reaching 62nd place in the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Qualifying Series.
Ricardo dos Santos passed away on January 20, 2015, when he was 24 years old. This happened near his home in southern Brazil, close to the city of Florianópolis. Many people, over a thousand, attended his funeral to say goodbye.
