Richard Cadell is a British magician, puppeteer, actor, and writer. He is most famous for being the person who presents and operates the puppet Sooty. He took over this role from Matthew Corbett in 1998. Richard was born on March 23, 1968.

Taking Over Sooty
Richard Cadell became the new presenter and puppeteer for Sooty in 1998. He took over from Matthew Corbett, who had been with Sooty for many years. This was a big step for Richard, as Sooty is a very famous puppet.
In June 2008, Sooty celebrated its 60th birthday! Around this time, Richard and his brother David bought the worldwide rights to the Sooty brand. They did this through their company, Cadells Ltd. This meant they now owned everything about Sooty.
Richard also helps create the Sooty television show. He is a co-writer and executive producer. The show is still on TV today, airing daily on ITVBe.
How Richard Joined Sooty
Richard's journey with Sooty started even earlier. He first appeared as a guest on a Christmas episode of The Sooty Show in 1985. Later, in the final series of Sooty & Co., he joined the cast. He and Liana Bridges played employees of the store in the show.

A Talented Magician
Richard Cadell is also a very skilled magician. He is a gold star member of the Inner Magic Circle. This is a very special group for magicians. He was also the past president of the British section of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
Consultant and More
Richard also works as a consultant for TV shows and stage productions. This means he gives advice and helps create magic tricks or special effects for other shows. In January 2008, he appeared in a show called The Convention Crasher.
