Richard Hugh Lynch (born February 12, 1940 – died June 19, 2012) was an American actor with Irish roots. He was famous for playing bad guys, or "villains," in many movies and TV shows.

Richard Lynch often appeared in science fiction stories. He was in Battlestar Galactica as a character named Wolfe. He also played Commander Xaviar in the show's sequel, Galactica 1980. You might also have seen him in popular shows like Starsky and Hutch, T. J. Hooker, The A-Team, Charmed, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Early life and training

Richard Lynch was born in Brooklyn, New York City, on February 12, 1940. His parents were from Ireland. He had a younger brother named Barry Lynch, who also became an actor.

Before becoming an actor, Richard Lynch served in the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the Marines, he studied acting. He trained at The Actors Studio and at HB Studios, which are well-known places for actors to learn their craft.

Richard Lynch's career

Besides acting, Richard Lynch was also a talented musician. He could play several instruments, including the saxophone, guitar, piano, and flute. He also enjoyed other hobbies like fishing, writing poetry, and learning about architecture.

Because his parents were born in Ireland, Richard Lynch was also a citizen of the Republic of Ireland. He often visited Ireland throughout his life.

Richard Lynch passed away on June 19, 2012. His body was found at his home in Yucca Valley, California. The cause of his death was a heart attack.

After his death, some news reports incorrectly said he was born in 1936. However, his family confirmed in his obituary that his correct birth year was 1940. He was survived by his brother Barry and his sisters Carole Taylor and Cathy Jones.
