How Richie Started Acting

Richie's acting journey began in 2013. A TV show called Hey Gorgeous was looking for new faces on different school campuses in Singapore. Richie was noticed and joined the competition. He did very well and ended up as the first runner-up! A famous Singaporean host, Quan Yi Fong, suggested he use "Rui Qi" as his stage name.

First Roles and Big Breaks

After serving in the National Service, Richie officially started his acting career in 2017. His first big role was in a Channel 8 army drama called When Duty Calls. People loved his natural acting and good looks. This role even earned him a nomination for Star Awards for Best Newcomer in Star Awards 2018. Later that year, he traveled to China for a month to film a web movie called The Legendary Detective of the Shanghai Bund. In this movie, he played an assistant to a detective.

In 2018, Richie appeared in several other TV shows like Life Less Ordinary and Die Die Also Must Serve. He also filmed 118 Reunion and had a special part in the local movie Wonderful! Liang Xi Mei, directed by Jack Neo. His role as a gangster boss in that movie helped him gain many new fans. Richie also starred in online shows like Star Crossed, Divided, and The Distance Between. He also acted in a movie called 23:59: The Haunting Hour, where he played a soldier.

In August 2018, Richie's agency, The Celebrity Agency, announced that he would be working in China too. He trained there for two months to improve his acting skills before returning to Singapore.

In 2021, Richie played Zhu Yongjie in Live Your Dreams. For this role, he was nominated for awards like MyPick! Favourite Male Show Stealer and Favourite CP (Couple) at the Star Awards 2022.

Richie became even more famous in 2022 when he starred in the very popular show Your World in Mine. He played Zheng Tiancai, a character with an intellectual disability. Richie Koh is in a relationship with fellow actress Hayley Woo. Hayley confirmed their relationship on Valentine's Day in February 2024, saying that Richie is a "romantic boyfriend."
