Richland's Unique History
Richland has a very interesting feature: an active railroad crossing right in the town square. The two main streets, Main Street and Race Street, are the only roads that connect the northern and southern parts of the town. This means that when a train crosses, it can actually divide the entire town in half!
This unusual situation has made Richland famous. It has been mentioned in Ripley's Believe It or Not! books, which share strange and amazing facts. It was also featured on the popular TV game show, Jeopardy!.
