About the Church

The Richmond Community Church is in the middle of Richmond village. It sits on the south side of Fitzwilliam Road. The building is made of brick and has one main floor. It has a roof that slopes down on two sides, like a triangle.

The front of the church faces north towards the road. It has two main sections, each with an entrance. These entrances have tall, narrow windows on the sides. The corners of the building also have flat, column-like decorations made of brick.

Above the front of the church, there is a tall, square tower made of wood. This tower has two parts.

History of the Church

The Richmond Community Church was built in 1838. It was first built by a group called the Unitarians. Before the church was even finished, they sold half of it. They sold it to another group called the First Baptist Society.

This church is one of the first brick churches built in the Connecticut River valley area of New Hampshire. It was likely influenced by the work of Ammi Burnham Young, who was from Lebanon, New Hampshire. The church looks different from older churches built in the Federal style. It has flat, column-like decorations on its corners and on the front.
