Rick Shiels was born in Bolton, England. This happened on July 3, 1986. He started playing golf when he was 11 years old. He played at Hart Common Golf Club in Westhoughton.
Rick studied golf at Myerscough College. After ten years of playing, he became a qualified golf professional. He then started working at Mere Golf and Country Club in Cheshire, England.
