Rickreall is a small community located in Polk County, Oregon, in the United States. It's considered an "unincorporated community," meaning it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. For counting people, the United States Census Bureau calls it a "census-designated place" (CDP).
In 2020, about 76 people lived in Rickreall. The community is also part of the larger Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area. A stream called Rickreall Creek flows along the southern edge of the community.

History of Rickreall
The first post office in Rickreall opened in 1851. It was first spelled "Rickreal." Nathaniel Ford was the first postmaster, which is the person in charge of the post office. The post office closed for a few years but reopened in 1866 with the current spelling, "Rickreall." It has been open ever since.
During the American Civil War and for some time after, people sometimes called Rickreall "Dixie." This was because many local residents had sympathies for the Southern states during the war. However, "Dixie" was never the official name for the community or its post office.

In 2000, there were 57 people living in Rickreall. The population has grown a bit since then, reaching 76 people in 2020. Most of the people living in Rickreall are White.

Education in Rickreall
Education has a long history in the Rickreall area. An early school called the Jefferson Institute was started in 1846. It was located about a mile west of Nathaniel Ford's home. This institute closed down sometime in the 1850s.
Later, there were two elementary schools in the Rickreall School District: Oak Grove Elementary and Rickreall Elementary. Rickreall Elementary closed in 2003. Students who went there then attended Whitworth Elementary in Dallas. Oak Grove Elementary also closed in the fall of 2005.
Utilities and Services
The Rickreall Community Water Association provides water service to homes and businesses in the area. This is a non-profit group that helps make sure about 525 homes, 64 businesses, and 2 schools have water.
