Ricardo Julio Ledo (born September 10, 1992) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Beirut Club in the Lebanese Basketball League. Ricky Ledo is known for being a talented player who has played for many teams around the world.
He first planned to play college basketball for the Providence Friars. However, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) decided he couldn't play. Ricky Ledo's High School Basketball Journey
Ricky Ledo played basketball at several high schools. He started his first two years at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, Rhode Island. After that, he moved to different schools to improve his game.
He attended St. Andrew's School in Barrington, Rhode Island. Then he went to Notre Dame Preparatory School in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. His last stop was South Kent School in South Kent, Connecticut.
At St. Andrew's, his team finished second in their conference. At Notre Dame, he helped his team reach the Prep National Finals. As a senior at South Kent, he was named a Second Team All-Conference player.
College Plans and Why They Changed
Ricky Ledo was a highly-rated basketball prospect. ESPN ranked him as the 21st best college player. He was also chosen as a McDonald's All-American, which is a big honor for high school players.
He had committed to play for Providence College in his home state. But in September of his first year, the NCAA ruled him ineligible. This meant he couldn't play because he didn't have enough academic credits. He stayed at the school hoping to play later, but the NCAA never changed their decision.
Ricky Ledo's Professional Basketball Career
Since he couldn't play in college, Ricky Ledo decided to go straight to the pros. He entered the 2013 NBA draft. Even though he never played a college game, the NBA still recognized him as a player coming from Providence College.
Playing for the Dallas Mavericks (2013–2015)

During his time with the Mavericks, he also played many games for their minor league team, the Texas Legends. This team is part of the NBA Development League (now called the G-League). In February 2015, the Mavericks let Ledo go after he played only 16 games over two seasons. He then rejoined the Texas Legends.
Time with the New York Knicks (2015)
In March 2015, Ledo signed a short 10-day contract with the New York Knicks. He played well enough to earn a second 10-day contract. On April 3, he had his best game, scoring 21 points against the Washington Wizards. He then signed with the Knicks for the rest of that season. However, the Knicks waived him in July 2015.
Playing for the Reno Bighorns (2015–2016)
In October 2015, Ricky Ledo joined the Reno Bighorns. This was another team in the NBA Development League. He played very well there. In February 2016, he was chosen to be an All-Star for the NBA D-League All-Star Game. He was averaging 20.1 points per game at that time.
