Ricky Antwan Williams (born August 29, 1978) is a former American football player. He played the running back position in the National Football League (NFL). A running back is an offensive player whose main job is to run with the football. Williams is known for his time playing for the Indianapolis Colts.
Early Life and High School
Ricky Williams was born in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in the area and went to Duncanville High School. In high school, he was a talented athlete and played on the football team. His skills on the field helped him get noticed by college football programs.
College Football Career
After high school, Williams attended Texas Tech University. He played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. During his time there, he became one of the best players in the Big 12 Conference.
In 2001, his final year of college, Williams had an outstanding season. He was named to the First-team All-Big 12. This is an honor given to the top players at their positions in the conference. His success in college prepared him for a professional career.
Professional NFL Career
In 2002, Williams began his professional career in the NFL. He first joined the New Orleans Saints for a short time. Later that year, he was signed by the Indianapolis Colts.
Williams played for the Colts from 2002 to 2003. During his time in the NFL, he had 59 rushing attempts for 190 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. He also caught 23 passes for 177 yards and scored two receiving touchdowns.
