Rico Hizon's Education Journey
Rico Hizon studied at De La Salle University. He earned a degree in Communication Arts and Business. After finishing his studies, he even taught classes there. He taught about radio, television, and broadcasting. Later, he also received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Northeastern Philippines.

Starting at GMA Network
Rico Hizon began his career in 1988 at GMA Network in Manila. For seven years, he covered important topics like money markets, banking, and real estate. He also reported on how companies were growing. He hosted a daily business show called Business Today. He also reported live from the trading floor of the Philippine Stock Exchange. During his time at GMA, he won an award called "The Outstanding Young Men for Broadcast Journalism."

Moving to CNBC Asia
In April 1995, Rico Hizon joined CNBC Asia. He worked in Hong Kong and later in Singapore. At CNBC, he was the main anchor for several morning shows. These included CNBC Today, Squawk Box, Market Watch, and Power Lunch.
Working at BBC News
Rico Hizon joined BBC World News in 2002. He anchored the daily business and finance show Asia Business Report. He also hosted Asia Today live from Singapore. From June 2011, he co-hosted Newsday. This was a news program on the BBC. He often reported on Asian business for World Business Report.
In November 2013, Rico reported live from Tacloban, Philippines. This was after Typhoon Haiyan caused a lot of damage. In March 2020, Rico announced he was leaving BBC News after 17 years.
Joining CNN Philippines
A few weeks after leaving the BBC, Rico Hizon returned to the Philippines. He joined CNN Philippines as a senior anchor. He also became a director for news content development. He hosted the 9 PM newscast called The Final Word. He also anchored a new business show called The Exchange.
Rico Hizon left CNN Philippines on January 26, 2024. This was because the news operations of the network stopped. His shows, The Final Word and The Exchange, also ended.
After CNN Philippines
After CNN Philippines closed, Rico Hizon appeared on Net 25's Kada Umaga. In May 2024, he became the editor-in-chief of GoodNewsPilipinas.com. This is a news website. In September, he became a senior vice president for corporate relations at SM Investments. He also started hosting a YouTube show called SM in Focus.
On October 29, 2024, Rico Hizon joined ABS-CBN News Channel. He started a new business talk show called Beyond the Exchange on November 5. He also appeared as an entertainment host on ABS-CBN's main news program TV Patrol on November 4, 2024.
