History of Ridgeway
Ridgeway was founded in 1851. This happened when a new railroad line was built through the area. The village was named after the Ridgeway family. They were the original owners of the land where the town was built.
When it first became an official village in 1858, it was called West Ridgeway. A post office opened in Ridgeway in 1865. This helped connect the village with other places by mail.
