History of Ripley
Ripley was first called Centerville. It became an official village on July 20, 1837. Later, it was reincorporated on April 10, 1874. The state of Illinois officially recognized Ripley on April 16, 1902.
Ripley was once known for making stoneware. This was because the area had a special type of clay that was perfect for it.
