Ripplebrook is a small community in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. It does not have its own local government. You can find Ripplebrook at the eastern end of Oregon Route 224. Here, it meets forest highways 46 and 57.
This community is located within the Mount Hood National Forest. It is also close to where the Clackamas River and the Oak Grove Fork Clackamas River meet. Ripplebrook is the only community you will find on the road between Estacada and Detroit. The Ripplebrook Ranger Station is located here. You can find restrooms and information at the station, but there are no other shops or services.
What is the Forest Service Compound?
The United States Forest Service has a special area in Ripplebrook. This area is called a compound. It includes an office and many different buildings for work. There are also three bunkhouses, which are places where people can sleep. The compound also has a heliport, which is a landing spot for helicopters. There is also a housing area for families.
Buildings and Areas
The main office building is located just off Route 224. Near the office, you will find several other important buildings. These include a fire warehouse, a gas house for vehicles, and a carpenter's shop. There is also a building for silviculture, which is about growing and taking care of trees.
The heliport is located behind the office area. It is along Forest Road 4600. Bunkhouse A and B are found along Forest Road 4631. Bunkhouse C is close to the heliport. It also serves as an office for heliport operations.
Housing for Families
There are ten homes for families in the housing area. This area is on Eagles Rest Road, just off Forest Road 4631. Some of the buildings at the Forest Service compound are now used by the Timber Lake Job Corps Center. This center helps young people learn important job skills.
