Rising Sun is a small city in Indiana, United States. It is located right next to the Ohio River. Rising Sun is special because it is the main town, called the county seat, of Ohio County. It is also the only official city or town in that county. In 2010, about 2,304 people lived in Rising Sun.

History of Rising Sun
The town of Rising Sun was officially started in 1816. A person named John James, who came from Maryland, registered the town. At that time, about 700 people lived there. Many German immigrants chose to settle in Rising Sun. The local post office has been open since 1844.
Early Travel on the Ohio River
In the 1830s, Rising Sun was a very busy place for travelers. Hundreds of flatboats stopped there every day. These boats were heading down the Ohio River, carrying goods and people.
Historic Places in Rising Sun
Two important places in Rising Sun are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the Clore Plow Works-J.W. Whitlock and Company and the Rising Sun Historic District. This means they are special places that are protected because of their history.

Rising Star Casino Resort
The Rising Star Casino Resort is a large entertainment place in Rising Sun. It first opened in October 1996. It used to be called the Grand Victoria Casino & Resort. This resort has a riverboat that can hold many people and a big area for games. It also offers other fun activities for visitors.
