The Rivière à la Catin is a river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Cami River. This river runs through the towns of L'Anse-Saint-Jean and Rivière-Éternité. It is located in the Fjord-du-Saguenay area, which is part of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. The river also passes through the zec du Lac-Brébeuf, a special conservation area.
The area around Lac à la Catin has roads like Chemin du Lac à la Catin. These roads help people get around for logging and fun outdoor activities. Other roads like Périgny road and Lac de la Souris road also serve the river valley.

The Catin River starts at Lac à la Catin. This lake is 2.8 km (1.7 mi) long and sits 597 m (1,959 ft) high. It's in a deep valley. Mountains like Mont du Saumon (816 m (2,677 ft)), Mont du Colibri (861 m (2,825 ft)), and Mont Pin (737 m (2,418 ft)) surround the lake.
The river flows for 22.3 km (13.9 mi) through forests and mountains. It drops 247 m (810 ft) in height from its source to its mouth.
Where the River Flows
The Catin River flows in different directions along its path:
- It starts by flowing northwest for 3.4 km (2.1 mi). It picks up water from Lac Solitaire and Lac à Lionel.
- Then, it turns northeast for 3.4 km (2.1 mi), passing through rapids. It goes around a mountain that is 657 m (2,156 ft) high.
- Next, it flows north for 2.2 km (1.4 mi), mostly through rapids in a deep valley.
- It then turns west for 2.4 km (1.5 mi), reaching the outlet of "Lac de la Souris".
- The river continues west for 4.1 km (2.5 mi), making a big curve to the south. It goes through a marshy area and more rapids.
- It then flows northwest for 3.0 km (1.9 mi), passing through several rapids.
- It goes northwest for 1.9 km (1.2 mi) to the outlet of "Lac Trouvé".
- Finally, it flows northwest for 1.9 km (1.2 mi) through a steep valley with rapids until it reaches its mouth.
The Catin River joins the Cami River on its south bank. This meeting point is:
- 0.8 km (0.50 mi) south of where the Cami River meets the Saint-Jean River.
- 1.2 km (0.75 mi) south-east of the mouth of Brébeuf Lake.
- 14.9 km (9.3 mi) south-west of the village of Rivière-Éternité.
From where the Catin River joins the Cami River, the water then:
- Flows along the Cami River for 1.0 km (0.62 mi) north.
- Follows the Saint-Jean River (Saguenay River tributary) for 37.7 km (23.4 mi) northeast.
- Passes through L'Anse-Saint-Jean for 2.9 km (1.8 mi) north.
- Continues along the Saguenay River for 42.8 km (26.6 mi) east to Tadoussac. There, it flows into the Estuary of Saint Lawrence.
