The Rivière du Cinq (which means 'River of the Five' in English) is a river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Bras Saint-Victor, which then joins the Chaudière River. The Chaudière River eventually flows into the mighty St. Lawrence River.

This river is located in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec. It passes through different areas, including:

  • Parts of Les Appalaches Regional County Municipality, like Saint-Pierre-de-Broughton and Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus.

Where the River Flows

The Rivière du Cinq starts its journey at a lake called Lac du Cinq. This lake is about 430 metres (1,410 ft) long and sits at an altitude of 601 metres (1,972 ft). It is located near Saint-Pierre-de-Broughton. The lake is north of the village of East Broughton and south-east of Mont Sainte-Marguerite.

From Lac du Cinq, the river flows for about 23.1 kilometres (14.4 mi). It winds its way through different landscapes:

  • It starts by flowing south in Saint-Pierre-de-Broughton.
  • It then turns south, passing a small lake and crossing country roads.
  • The river crosses Route 112 near East Broughton.
  • It continues flowing southeast, eventually reaching the town of Saint-Victor.

The Rivière du Cinq finally joins the Bras Saint-Victor river in Saint-Victor. The Bras Saint-Victor then flows into the Chaudière River near Beauceville. The point where the Rivière du Cinq meets the Bras Saint-Victor is about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) northwest of the center of Saint-Victor.
