River's Journey
The Rivière du Moulin starts in a farming area. This spot is southeast of the village of Gentilly. It's also north of the larger Gentilly River.
From where it begins, the Rivière du Moulin travels about 9.6 kilometres (6.0 mi) (about 6 miles). As it flows, it drops about 33 metres (108 ft) (around 108 feet) in height.
Here's how its journey goes:
- First, it flows west for about 0.9 kilometres (0.56 mi) (half a mile) until it reaches Route 263.
- Then, it turns northwest and travels 2.7 kilometres (1.7 mi) (about 1.7 miles) to Chemin des Bouvreuils.
- Next, it heads north for 2.1 kilometres (1.3 mi) (about 1.3 miles). It passes the rang Saint-Charles road, which is south of Gentilly village.
- Finally, it flows northeast for 3.9 kilometres (2.4 mi) (about 2.4 miles). Along this path, it crosses one road and then Route 132 before reaching its end.
The Rivière du Moulin eventually joins the St. Lawrence River. This meeting point is in the eastern part of Bécancour. It's east of Gentilly village. This spot is also about 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) west of where the Orignaux river meets the St. Lawrence.
