Rob Bagg (born February 3, 1985) is a retired professional Canadian football player. He was a wide receiver for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Rob played for 11 seasons, from 2008 to 2018. He helped his team win the Grey Cup in 2013. In 2014, he was named a West Division All-Star. Before playing professionally, Bagg played college football for the Queen's Gaels football team.

Early Life and High School Football

Rob Bagg grew up in Kingston, Ontario. He went to Frontenac Secondary School from 1999 to 2003. When he was 16, Rob joined the Frontenac Falcons Senior Football Team. He had not played football before.

Rob helped his team win big championships. They won their division finals (EOSSA). They also won the Provincial finals (OFSAA). These wins happened at the National Capital Bowl. It was held in the 'Sky Dome', now called the Rogers Centre. Rob helped his team win these titles in both his senior years.

College Football Career

In 2003, Rob Bagg started attending Queen's University. He joined the school's football team that same year.

In 2006, Rob played in all eight games. He caught 30 passes for 565 yards. He also scored four touchdowns. He was one of the top receivers in the country.

After the 2006 season, Rob was not chosen in the 2007 CFL Draft. However, the Saskatchewan Roughriders were very interested in him. They signed him shortly after the draft. Rob went to their training camp in 2007. He made the team's roster. But he decided to go back to Queen's for another year. The Roughriders went on to win the Grey Cup that year.

In 2007, Rob was the top receiver for the Golden Gaels. He played in seven games. He caught 36 passes for 804 yards. He also scored six touchdowns. In one amazing game, he caught passes for 341 yards. He also scored three touchdowns in that game. This was one of the best single-game receiving performances in CIS history.

Professional Football Journey

On January 23, 2008, Rob Bagg officially signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This was the team that wanted him before the 2007 season. Rob made the team again after training camp. He played as a receiver in 16 games during the 2008 season.

Early in his career, Rob showed his skill. In a game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, he made his first CFL catch. He finished that game with six catches for 52 yards. The Roughriders won that game. He had another great game against Montreal. He caught six passes for 146 yards. One catch was for 72 yards. He was named the CFL's Canadian Player of the Week. He finished his first season with 22 catches for 371 yards.

In the 2009 season, Rob became a key player. He took over a main wide receiver spot. He had a fantastic game against the BC Lions. He caught passes for 120 yards. He also scored his first two CFL touchdowns. He finished the season with 59 catches for 807 yards. He scored five touchdowns. Rob was nominated for the Most Outstanding Canadian award that year. He also helped on defense and special teams. In the 2009 Grey Cup, he had three catches for 27 yards.

Battling Injuries

Rob faced tough challenges with injuries. In the 2010 CFL season, he had a season-ending injury against the Calgary Stampeders. This injury also kept him out of the entire 2011 CFL season. He re-injured his left knee during off-season training.

After working hard to recover, Rob returned for the 2012 CFL season. However, he tore his right knee in Week 3. This meant he had to miss the rest of that season too. He needed surgery again.

Return to the Field and Grey Cup Win

Rob Bagg made a strong comeback for the 2013 CFL season. He earned Canadian Player of the Week honors in Week 4. He scored his first CFL touchdown since 2010 in Week 3. In Week 4, he scored two touchdowns. Later that season, he injured his knee again. But it was a sprain, and he returned after missing four games. By the end of 2013, Rob played in 16 games. He had 34 catches for 430 yards and four touchdowns.

After the 2013 season, Rob signed a new contract. This kept him with the Roughriders through the 2015 season. The Roughriders won the 101st Grey Cup in 2013. Rob Bagg was a big part of that championship team.

Rob was released by the Riders before the 2018 season. But he was re-signed by the team on August 15, 2018.

Rob Bagg announced his retirement from football on September 17, 2019. He had a long and successful career despite facing many injuries.
